The pave dessert was (or still is?) a brazilian trend. Celebrations, New years, family reunions there it is. With fruits, with pastry cream, chocolate pastry cream, lady fingers, Maria cookies, social tea biscuits or even cak
e. Everybody had their own "secret" family recipe locked somewhere, as if nobody else had anything quite like it, and it was made over and over again in every occasion that deserved a special dessert.
It's origin is uncertain, but the name comes from pavé, pavement in French. Is not difficult to understand the reason for the name, since paving is done in layers and so is the dessert: pastry cream, fruits, cookies/cake, pastry cream, fruits, pastry cream/cake.
So, it's a secret recipe? That cake looks awesome delicious! Wish I could take a bite on it. Yummm....
